Michael Block has taken the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic by storm, seizing the solo lead with a bogey-free 63. The club professional, no stranger to headline-grabbing performances, enters the final round of the inaugural tournament with a one-shot lead at an impressive 11-under par. What a statement!
His round was a masterclass from start to finish: He began with immediate back-to-back birdies and then turned up the heat on the back nine – carding five birdies in seven holes from the 10th to the 16th. Overall, after 36 holes, he holds a commanding total of 129 (66-63).
Blockbuster Season on Tour
This isn't the first time Block has made waves on the PGA Tour Champions. As the Head Professional at Arroyo Trabuco, he's competing via sponsor exemptions and has already notched three top-10 finishes in six starts this season, including a tie for third at the Ally Challenge. His 63 marked his lowest round of the Champions season. He consistently proves he can contend with the game's top players.
Steely Nerves on the Green
Block's composure on Saturday was particularly impressive: He successfully scrambled in all four attempts and led the field in putts per green in regulation with an outstanding 1.64. The tournament at Lehigh Valley Country Club in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is set for a thrilling conclusion today. Steven Alker is just one shot behind him. Will Block secure the title?
