Two consecutive eagles and a sensational round of 61 strokes: Blades Brown delivered at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship and is on the verge of making golf history this Friday by securing his PGA Tour card for 2027. The young American set the course in Glen Allen, Virginia, on fire.
Brown posted an impressive 10-under-par 61, including two consecutive eagles that propelled him into contention. With a total of 13-under-par after 36 holes, he seized the sole lead, one stroke ahead of Austin Hitt, who also played a superb 62. The Korn Ferry Tour is known for its drama, but what Brown is showcasing here is exceptional and could secure him a place in the history books.
On the Brink of the Big Leagues
This performance is far more than just an interim result. Brown started the tournament 14th on the Korn Ferry Points List. With a victory, he would likely move up to fourth in the ranking, significantly improving his position for the 2027 PGA Tour season. Should he maintain his lead, he would become the youngest player to earn a PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour, at 19 years, four months, and 20 days old – beating Jason Day's record from 2007 by about seven months.
A Season of Superlatives
Brown has already competed in 29 events this year on the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. He has ten top-20 finishes, including a third place at the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open and a second place at the KFT's Tulum Championship. His consistency has been very strong for a while now, but this performance at the Championship is a true statement. Two rounds still remain to fulfill his PGA Tour dream.
