Zurich Classic: Koepka, Lowry & the Fitzpatricks in Focus!

Folks, buckle up! The PGA Tour is making a stop in Louisiana, more precisely at the 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. And we're not talking about just any event, but the season's only official team tournament! From April 23rd to 26th, 74 two-man teams will tee off at TPC Louisiana, competing in alternating Four-Ball and Foursomes formats. There's a hefty $9.5 million prize purse at stake and 400 FedEx Cup points for each of the winners. That promises pure drama!

Defending champions Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak, who secured victory in 2025 with an impressive 28-under-par finish – the third-lowest in tournament history – are naturally back in the field. Their triumph, highlighted by rounds of 61 and 62 in Four-Ball, marked the first PGA Tour title for both. While Griffin has yet to record a top-15 finish in 2026, Novak is red-hot: He recently finished T15 at the Valero Texas Open and T16 at the RBC Heritage. Can he maintain his top form?

Favorites Check: Who Has What It Takes to Win?

Power rankings and bookmakers see several teams at the forefront. Brooks Koepka and Shane Lowry form a true premium pairing with a combined six Major victories. Koepka is in strong form, and Lowry, who triumphed with Rory McIlroy in 2024, now aims to attack again with Koepka. But the clear favorites, according to DraftKings, are Matt Fitzpatrick and his brother Alex Fitzpatrick. Matt, the current World No. 7, is in top form after his second victory in 2026 at the RBC Heritage – where he prevailed in a playoff against Scottie Scheffler.

Make History or Preserve Tradition?

The duo Aaron Rai and Sahith Theegala, teeing off together for the third consecutive time, is also highly regarded by experts. Theegala already shined in 2026 with four top-10 finishes. However, there's a small detail that makes things exciting: In the history of the Zurich Classic, there has never been a back-to-back winner. Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak are thus facing a real challenge to break this streak and become the first defending champions to win again. Will they succeed? It's going to be an epic week!
