Cadillac Championship: Young Falters, Then Rocks – From Stuttering Start to Huge Lead!
What a Saturday at the PGA Cadillac Championship! Cameron Young, the current world number four, once again showed why he belongs among the top players on Florida's legendary Blue Monster Course. Even with a shaky start, the 28-year-old American ultimately secured a comfortable six-stroke lead heading into Sunday's final round. It was truly eventful!
Young posted a round of 70 (two under par) on Saturday, putting him at an impressive 15 under par (201 strokes) after 54 holes. Without a doubt, that's truly strong!
But the path wasn't a walk in the park, as Young himself admitted: "It was pretty difficult to find a rhythm. The wind and its direction were extremely tricky. On every hole, we had a fair bit of crosswind." For him, it was about "managing all of that and creating as many chances as possible." Authentic, as we know him.
The Chasing Pack: Scheffler Lurks, But the Gap Is There
While Young extended his lead, the competition battled for the best starting positions for Sunday. World number one Scottie Scheffler fired a round of 69, tying for second place at 207 strokes alongside South Korea's Kim Si-woo and Norway's Kristoffer Reitan. Behind them lurk Americans Ben Griffin and Matt McCarty, as well as Canada's Nick Taylor, who share fifth place at 208 strokes.
The weather, by the way, is also acting up! Stormy conditions are forecast for Sunday afternoon. The organizers have reacted by moving up the final round: flights will start in threesomes from the first and tenth tees in the morning.
Cameron Young takes it in stride: "Today was a good dress rehearsal for what tomorrow will be like. I'm sure it won't be as easy as I'd like it to be. The weather probably won't be great. It's going to be a battle from the start, and I'll try to play mostly how I did today – keep the ball in front of me and sink some putts."
Young's Rollercoaster Ride: From Water Hazard to Huge Lead
The man is on a roll! Young, who turns 29 next Thursday, won the Players Championship in March 2026 and tied for third place at the Masters last month, in April 2026. The 28-year-old is really on top form!
But Saturday started anything but flawlessly for him. Having teed off with a five-stroke lead, his second shot on the opening par-5 hole landed straight into the water – Bogey! Nick Taylor seized the opportunity, sinking a six-foot birdie putt and cutting the lead to three strokes.
"It wasn't my best shot," Young admitted candidly. "With a good bounce, it wouldn't have landed in the water. With an average bounce, it would have at least been close. I was just unlucky. But
