Miyu Yamashita delivers an ice-cold 66 to seal the deal: she snatches the LPGA Canadian Women's Open title in wire-to-wire fashion, leaving competitor Yuri Yoshida trailing by nine strokes.
What a dominant performance! Yamashita's fourth-round 60s at Royal Mayfair in Edmonton secured her an incredible 23-under-par total of 257 strokes. This marks her second win of the 2026 season and her fourth triumph in just 13 months. Among these successes is last year's Women's British Open, which earned her the 2025 Rookie of the Year title – truly impressive!
Starting with a six-shot lead, Yamashita immediately followed up with a birdie on the second hole. A bogey on the fourth? No problem, the counter-attack came swiftly with a birdie on the fifth. On the remaining holes, she collected four more birdies and just one bogey before sealing the deal completely with a final birdie on the last hole. Her 257 strokes tied the LPGA record for the fewest strokes in a 72-hole event. However, she couldn't break the tour record for the lowest score relative to par – Kim Sei-young's 257-stroke round in Wisconsin in 2018 was a 31-under-par performance on a par-72 course. Despite being in control since her opening 62, Yamashita admitted to feeling nervous before the round, but she trusted her swing – and it paid off!
While Yamashita dominated the field at will, compatriot Yuri Yoshida secured solo second place with a 69 (-1), which included an eagle, a birdie, and two bogeys. Her score: 14 under par. In third place was Kim with a strong 67, including an eagle and three birdies, for a total of 13 under par. American Gina Kim, who had started the day tied for second, ultimately had to settle for a share of fourth place after a 72 (+1). She shares this spot with China's Yin Ruoning and Canadian local favorite Anna Huang, all of whom finished 12 under par.
