Alright, folks, the weekend has just begun, and already news is breaking that's sure to spark plenty of conversation on the course. The legend himself, Tiger Woods, made headlines this past Friday in Florida – and unfortunately, this time it wasn't for a birdie or an eagle. Instead, the 50-year-old was jailed following a car crash on suspicion of driving under the influence and refusing a test.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, specifically between 1 PM and 2 PM local time (7 PM and 8 PM CEST), near his home on Jupiter Island. Tiger was driving his Land Rover when he reportedly attempted to overtake a pickup truck pulling a pressure washer trailer on a two-lane road with a 30 mph (approx. 48 km/h) limit. In doing so, he is said to have clipped the rear of the pickup, lost control, and rolled his own vehicle onto its driver's side.
Old Habits? Tiger's Past
It's not the first time Tiger Woods has made negative headlines off the fairways. Back in 2017, he was arrested for DUI in Florida and got away with a reckless driving charge, citing a mixture of pain medications as the cause. And who could forget the severe rollover crash in California in 2021 that almost cost him his career?
What Does This Mean for the Tiger?
Athletically, Woods was already on a forced break after his last PGA Tour appearance at the 2024 British Open, having to recover from a torn Achilles tendon in March 2025 and back surgery in September 2025. Currently, there is no statement from his management or himself. This incident definitely casts a long shadow over the already turbulent career of the golf icon. It remains to be seen what's next for the Tiger.
