Matt Gogel, known from the PGA Tour Champions, has been suspended for six months due to violations of the PGA Tour's integrity policies. From August 23, 2026, to February 22, 2027, the professional golfer is excluded from all competitions, a tough blow for his season and the start of next year.

The golfer admitted to placing “small recreational bets” on golf tournaments in 2024 and 2025. He emphasized that these bets did not concern his own tournaments on the PGA Tour or PGA Tour Champions. Sounds harmless, but the Tour sees it differently: betting on any PGA-sanctioned golf competitions is strictly forbidden, even if you are not competing yourself. Gogel was fully cooperative, which certainly worked in his favor.

The suspension is effective immediately, coming after Gogel had already competed in 17 PGA Tour Champions events this year. He will therefore miss not only the remainder of the 2026 season but also the start of 2027 – a long dry spell for anyone who loves the game. This case is not an isolated incident and follows a series of clear decisions by the Tour. As early as 2023, Korn Ferry Tour players Vince India and Jake Staiano were suspended for similar betting violations. The league makes it clear: there is no pardon for breaking the rules.
