Matti Schmid is red-hot: Another statement on the PGA Tour!
Attention, everyone: Matti Schmid is simply unstoppable on the PGA Tour! The German golf professional once again showed what he's made of, posting a truly impressive result at the four-million-dollar event in Rio Grande/Puerto Rico. The 28-year-old snags a sensational fifth place – and that's not a first.
Just a week ago, he secured his first top-10 finish of the year on the North American tour with a ninth-place tie. He's on a roll! On the par-72 course, Schmid needed a total of 276 strokes, pocketing a cool 148,000 dollars in prize money. One has to admit: absolutely brilliant play!
But our second German in the field, Jeremy Paul, also showed he means business at the Grand Reserve Golf Club. With just one more stroke, the 32-year-old secured an impressive eighth place. We give him a big thumbs up for that too!
However, it was someone else who made the biggest splash: After four thrilling rounds and a total of 271 strokes, American Ricky Castillo put together a truly stunning round and claimed the victory. He triumphed over his countrymen Chandler Blanchet (272 strokes) and Blades Brown (274 strokes). For the just 25-year-old Castillo, this was his first tournament victory on the Tour – what an opener to a hopefully glorious career!
