The World Golf Hall of Fame has announced its finalists for the Class of 2027 – and there are some true golf legends who have made history! With England's Justin Rose and Australia's Adam Scott on the list, two absolute powerhouses are set, whose ascent to golf's Olympus seems to be merely a formality.
Rose, who claimed the US Open title in 2013, and Scott, Masters champion in the same year, are not the only stars in the men's field. With Corey Pavin, the 1995 US Open winner, and Jim Furyk, who won the US Open in 2003, the lineup of potential inductees is incredibly strong. Here, legends converge whose names every golfer should know.
The women's field is just as competitive: South Korea's Park In-bee, who boasts an incredible seven major titles, leads an impressive selection. Alongside her are Sweden's Liselotte Neumann, 1988 US Women's Open winner, as well as the two Americans Cristie Kerr and Dottie Pepper, both of whom celebrated two major triumphs. This is pure female power that has shaped the sport!
However, not only players can be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Ted Ray, Jay Sigel, and Alexa Stirling from the Amateur/Historic category are also up for election. And in the ranks of the so-called "Contributors," big names are also found: TV commentator Jim Nantz, course architect Harry Colt, and the legendary coach Butch Harmon. All of them have made golf incomparable in their own way.
Originally, 162 nominees were in the running, who have now been whittled down to this high-caliber list of finalists. A 24-member selection committee has the difficult task of making the final decisions – 75 percent approval is required here, golfers. It's no easy feat!
The anticipation is building: The final Hall of Fame selections will be announced in December. And the ceremony? It will take place on July 12, 2027, in historic St. Andrews, Scotland. A date to mark in red on your calendar, for this is where history will be cemented.
