Robert MacIntyre: Playoff Shock After 82 & WD in Memphis!

What a collapse at the FedEx St. Jude Championship: Robert MacIntyre posted an 82 in Memphis, a whopping twelve strokes over par, mercilessly landing him in last place in the 69-man field. This wasn't a stellar round, but a true golf thriller with horror elements for the Scot.

Things really went south on the course, but unfortunately not in a good way for MacIntyre. Three double bogeys adorned his scorecard, the first early on the front nine, then two more costly ones late on holes 15 and 18. A triple bogey on the 6th also joined the tally. He searched in vain for a birdie until he finally found one on the par-5 16th – but by then, the ship had long sailed.

🚨 | A disastrous opening day for Bob at the St Jude as he shoots a +12 (82). 😬 Not heard of any injury but I think the less said about today the better.

Playoff Pressure and the Collapse

The FedEx St. Jude Championship is the opening event of the PGA Tour Playoffs in 2026, where every stroke determines advancement to the BMW Championship. MacIntyre was well-positioned, 31st in the FedEx Cup Ranking, but such an 82 — already called by some the worst PGA Tour round of his career — now puts him under immense pressure. The clock is relentlessly ticking against him.

Out Before Round Two

MacIntyre was actually scheduled to start his second round today, Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12:55 PM ET (6:55 PM CEST), alongside J.T. Poston. But that won't happen: The Scot pulled the plug early and is no longer competing. A DNF that speaks volumes and further underscores the catastrophic opening round.
