Matt Fitzpatrick has claimed the daily victory in round two of the 2026 RBC Heritage and now sits at 14-under par at the top of the leaderboard! What an absolutely flawless round of 63 he conjured up on the greens of Harbour Town Golf Links on Friday, April 17th. The guy is simply on fire, folks, and is putting on a show we won't soon forget!

The second round was a masterpiece. Fitzpatrick, who already won the 2022 US Open and the 2023 RBC Heritage, started tied for third, but then he took off: Eight birdies! Including a 36-foot (11 m) monster putt on the 15th and, get this, an unlikely 30-foot (9.1 m) putt on the par-3 14th after his tee shot first deflected off the cart path and then off a sprinkler. He could certainly call that lucky, as he himself said. But his iron game is really strong, which we already know from his win at the Valspar Championship this year and his narrow second-place finish at THE PLAYERS Championship.

Fitzy's Putter: On Fire!

His putter? It's simply on fire! With 32 putts in 27 holes, he's worked the greens like no other, securing the solo lead – one stroke ahead of the always dangerous Viktor Hovland, who holds onto second place with a 65. If the putter keeps running like this, it's going to be a sensational round this weekend. What drama still awaits us!

The Chasers Aren't Sleeping

But the competition is relentless. Harris English (-11) fought his way back despite a double-bogey on the 11th, and Patrick Cantlay (-10) is playing really strong bogey-free rounds after the Masters. Even Sweden's Ludvig Åberg, who was still leading overnight, slipped with a 71 and three bogeys on the back nine. Even World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, who hit all 14 fairways, is still seven strokes back at -7. This Signature Event directly after the Masters, with its precise demands, still promises plenty of excitement.
