Folks, if we look at the raw numbers, Jon Rahm is coming into this year's PGA Championship in absolutely top form! The Legion XIII Captain has already secured two victories this season.
Two wins, three second-place finishes, two additional top-10 finishes, and a healthy lead in the season-long points ranking after just seven LIV Golf starts – now that's a statement, golfers! The disappointment at the Masters (T38) a month ago remains a minor mystery, but Rahm will tee off on Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club with a great deal of confidence and momentum.
Rahm's Hot Streak Leading Up to the PGA Championship
“Aside from the Masters, I've played pretty good golf so far,” commented the Legion XIII Captain. Of course, top form is no guarantee for future success, but Rahm has two major titles under his belt, which provide us with exciting comparisons. But beware, the paths to these triumphs were, let's just say, quite unique.
Rahm's Path to Major Victory
Let's take his first major victory at the U.S. Open in June 2021: In the six tournaments leading up to it, Rahm recorded top-10 finishes at The Players, the World Golf Championships-Match Play, the Masters, and the PGA Championship. Then he went to the Memorial, where he dominated the first three rounds with scores of 69, 65, and 64. He stood at an impressive 18-under par, held a six-shot lead, and had just delivered one of the tournament's standout rounds with an 8-under 64. “That was probably the best golf I could ever play,” Rahm said at the time.
