Patrick Reed: Back with a Vengeance! Second Green Jacket in Sight

The golf world eagerly watches Augusta, as the 2026 Masters is just around the corner – and a familiar face seems to be truly heating up again: Patrick Reed. The 2018 champion starts in peak form and with considerable momentum, aiming to claim his second Green Jacket. What a comeback!

Reed already showed what he's made of at the 2025 Masters. He secured third place, including a sensational eagle on the 17th green on Sunday. At the time, he was only two shots shy of the playoff between Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose. Since his 2018 victory, where he defeated McIlroy in the final group, he has amassed four top-10 finishes in seven starts at Augusta.

"Captain America" Is Back

But Reed's run continues. Last summer (2025), he claimed his first LIV Golf victory near Dallas – his only one in four LIV seasons. What's even more impressive: since 2023, he hasn't missed a single cut in seven LIV starts, making him the most consistent player on the circuit.

He also started 2026 on the DP World Tour in truly strong fashion: He won the Dubai Desert Classic and the Qatar Event, only succumbing in a playoff in Bahrain. These stellar performances catapulted him to 23rd in the Official World Golf Rankings. He's on the rise!

The Road Back to the Top

His major comeback, however, began even earlier. At the 2024 Hong Kong Open, he fired an incredible 59 in the third round – a new course record! That marked the end of a 3.5-year winless streak. In November 2024, after a relatively quiet LIV period (2022-2023), he had slipped to 164th in the world rankings, following his last PGA Tour victory in 2021 at Torrey Pines.

With this form, Reed is an absolute top contender at Augusta. His consistency in recent years – with finishes like T4, T12, and third place – shows that there's still a lot of untapped potential within him. And we all know: Patrick Reed on the course is always good for a surprise.
