Nelly Korda is simply unstoppable! She has not only clinched the LPGA Rolex Player of the Year Award 2026 but is also on the verge of entering the Hall of Fame with 26 out of 27 required points. This is the second time in three years she's claimed this award – a clear statement of who dominates on the green.
This season is simply a declaration: four victories, including two Major Championships. Korda has built an insurmountable lead with 239 points, 63 points ahead of Haeran Ryu, despite three events still remaining. She leads the LPGA in prize money with an incredible $6.22 million and is delivering a scoring average of 69.38. Ten top-10 finishes in 15 starts and a season start with six consecutive top-2 finishes – that's an incredibly strong performance!
The Vare Trophy Catch
But even for a dominant player, there are small catches: Although Korda has the best scoring average on Tour, she isn't qualified for the Vare Trophy. The reason? She has only played 53 rounds, thus failing to meet the required minimum. This award would have earned her another crucial Hall of Fame point, which she's now missing out on. An opportunity for Miyu Yamashita, who, with an average of 69.47 and sufficient rounds, is now in contention.
Final Hurdles to Legend Status
After an approximately two-month break and skipping the Asian Swing – which, incidentally, she's missed for the third consecutive year – Korda is expected to make her comeback at The Annika, before heading to the season finale at the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida. The goal is clear: a win at one of these events would grant her the decisive final point for the Hall of Fame. The path is paved, but not yet automatically complete. The suspense remains whether she will confidently clear this final hurdle and cement her legendary status.
