Nelly Korda has had a season for the history books in 2026, even if a third consecutive major title eluded her. After two successive LPGA major victories, she charged into the KPMG Women's PGA with a great chance not only to secure a third major win but also to cement her status as a future Hall of Famer. Her dominant run this year is a true statement.
The golf world held its breath as Korda teed off at the KPMG Women’s PGA in late spring, following her triumphs at the 2026 Chevron Championship and the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open. Expectations were enormous, as three consecutive majors is a feat only very few exceptional players achieve. It was a pure battle of nerves, where every swing counted, and the tension on the greens was palpable.
Chasing the Triple
On the Hazeltine Course, Korda initially showed why she is considered the best in the world right now. But by the end of the final round, it was a T-8 with a 73 that shattered her dreams of a third major. Late bogeys derailed her plans and ended the chase for the triple this year. A bitter pill for all Korda fans who were cheering along. Nevertheless, this T-8 at a major is absolutely no major setback.
The Hall of Fame Journey Continues
Haeran Ryu claimed the title at the KPMG Women’s PGA – a truly strong performance that ultimately denied Korda the historic streak. But even if the streak is broken, Korda’s 2026 season is far from over. With 19 LPGA victories and an impressive 4 major titles, she has already built a career that is unparalleled. The LPGA Hall of Fame is the big goal, and majors carry extra weight there. Korda is definitely on track and will secure her HOF status in the coming years. The anticipation of when she will achieve it remains, however.
