LIV MX: Legion XIII with Record Team Lead, Rahm Controls...

MEXICO CITY – The reigning LIV Golf Mexico City champions, Team Legion XIII, delivered a historic performance over two rounds at Club de Golf Chapultepec, achieving the largest lead after any round in LIV Golf history. Driven by captain and 36-hole leader, Jon Rahm, and a string of low rounds from Tyrrell Hatton and Tom McKibbin, Legion XIII stormed to 25 under par at the midway point of LIV Golf Mexico City, establishing a commanding 19-stroke lead over Fireballs GC heading into the weekend.

Korean Golf Club and Cleeks Golf Club are tied for third place at 3 under par, with Torque GC one stroke behind. Before Friday, the largest lead by an individual player or team in league history was Southern Guards GC's – then called Stinger GC – 14-stroke victory at the inaugural LIV Golf London event in 2022.

“Anytime you have to count and do a little bit of math to realize how many strokes you’re ahead, that’s an amazing thing,” Rahm said. “...I hope we all continue playing at the same level, and on Sunday, the last few holes aren't even a competition, and we have a lead of over 20, 30 strokes. That would be fantastic. But you have to expect other teams to attack and play well, so we have to continue doing what we’ve been doing and play really good golf.”

Rahm Unstoppable: The One-Man Show Becomes a Team Gala

Individually, Rahm finds himself once again in a familiar position atop the leaderboard, backing up his opening round of 6-under-par 65 with a 4-under-par 67, putting him at 10 under par overall with a one-stroke lead.

Rahm leads a trio tied for second place at 9 under par, including McKibbin, Matthew Wolff of RangeGoats GC, and Harold Varner III of Smash GC. Luis Masaveu of Fireballs GC sits alone in fifth place at 8 under par. First-round leader Victor Perez slipped to a tie for sixth place after a round of 2-over-par 73, and now sits three strokes off the pace, alongside Hatton and Wild Card player Richard T. Lee.

Rahm, the current league points leader and reigning two-time individual champion, once again showcased his ability to remain steady – even if Friday didn’t unfold as smoothly as the scorecard might suggest. “Today was a bit of a frustrating day,” he said. “I think whether it was the wind or the altitude, there were quite a few shots that were on a really good line and went very far off… things can happen, but it doesn’t make it easier.”

Nevertheless, Rahm continues to create opportunities for himself as he chases his second win of the season and fourth of his LIV Golf career. Friday's outright lead marks his 16th (outright or shared) since joining the league before the 2024 season. “I’m clearly playing well enough,”
