Joaquin Niemann now has three more individual wins than any other player in LIV Golf history, while Crushers GC has won a record ten regular season team titles. Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann claims victory in Korea, securing his eighth individual title on the LIV Golf Tour – an absolute record that makes him the sole leader in league history.
Joaquin Niemann came to Asiad Country Club looking to secure his first individual title in a 2026 season that felt somewhat disappointing after his five-win campaign in 2025. He leaves Busan with his eighth individual LIV Golf victory – the most in league history – after defeating Talor Gooch in a playoff to claim the LIV Golf Korea title in a showdown between two of the most decorated winners in league history.
In the team competition, Crushers GC successfully defended their 2025 Korea title, holding off OKGC to win again in a country that has become a kind of second home for them.
Nerves of Steel on the Green
Niemann started the final round of a LIV Golf tournament with the co-lead for the sixth time – he had converted four of the previous five into victories. And he did it again! With a 3-under 67, a truly strong round, and the subsequent playoff victory over Gooch, he solidified his status as an absolute clutch performer and extended his record to eight individual titles. He laid the groundwork early – with a 31 on the front nine and four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on holes six and seven, to build a lead – before a bogey on 11 made the competition more exciting again.
A bogey on 11 made things tense again, but Niemann remained unfazed. He grinded out pars over the final holes while Gooch applied pressure. When he glanced at the leaderboard on the 15th and saw it was a two-man race, he went all in and didn't blink.
Niemann's Craving for Pressure
"Every hole was like match play, every shot counted," Niemann said after the triumph. "That's probably the best feeling. I love that pressure, knowing you have to hit the clutch shot to win the tournament." What an attitude! With this mentality, Niemann is thriving, having now definitively immortalized himself in LIV Golf history.
