The LIV Golf pros are in Mexico City, facing a real altitude challenge. Club de Golf Chapultepec is located over 7,000 feet (2,134 meters) above sea level, and that means: thin air, extra distance, but also extreme precision work on every shot. No wonder equipment adjustments are being made – this week saw 73 club changes, and since the beginning of the year, there have already been 424!
The pros know: Everything has to be dialed in here. You can see how many are searching for the perfect setup to optimally master the unique conditions. Whether it's driver adjustments for more control or new wedges for the short game around the green – nothing is left to chance. The pros are ready to maximize their performance.
In Search of the Sweet Spot
Especially interesting are the driver changes, with many opting for the latest models. Dustin Johnson, for example, has thoroughly reorganized his bag and is using a TaylorMade Qi10 3-wood. Joaquin Niemann is also adding a Ping G440 LST to his bag, and Louis Oosthuizen is now playing the Titleist GTS2. There was also movement in the wedges: Sergio Garcia is opting for Titleist Vokey SM11, and Brendan Steele has added a 62° Titleist Vokey SM10 – for tricky lies. A significant move comes from Sam Horsfield, who has switched his entire set of irons to Ping Blueprint T.
Reaching New Heights with the Right Gear
These meticulous adjustments show how crucial equipment can be when conditions are so unique. Every club can make the difference when the ball floats through the thin air on every shot. It's truly impressive to see how the pros try to get the most out of their gear to achieve victory on the course. The hunt for the best scores is in full swing!
