After Šimon Zach had to cope with the death of his good friend Max Tauchert in a skiing accident, and shortly thereafter came off the mountain himself with broken and dislocated fingers, the dream of professional golf seemed distant. But the part-time coach, currently ranked 2,615 in the world, showed resilience. He leveraged the digital revolution in golf and dominated the NEXT Golf Tour, where he secured the coveted Order of Merit after three consecutive runner-up finishes. This unconventional path opened doors for him to the DP World Tour and the HotelPlanner Tour.
From Simulators to the Course
His breakthrough on the NEXT Golf Tour went smoothly and demonstrates that the lines between virtual and real golf are increasingly blurring. Zach, who made his DP World Tour debut as a very young 15-year-old amateur at the Czech Open in 2011 and first made the cut two years ago, has been a professional since 2019.
