Michael La Sasso, young and wild, triumphed at the regular season-ending event of the LIV Golf League, grabbing his first professional win ever – and precisely at a moment when the tour's big stage is faltering.
La Sasso, a 22-year-old rookie from HyFlyers GC, sealed the deal with a 5-under 66 on Sunday. He had previously carded an incredible 10-under 60, a career best, onto the green. With a total of 18-under 262 strokes, he left the entire elite field behind, demonstrating that talent doesn't need tour experience to truly deliver.
Rookie Sensation on the Green
The youngster started the final round as the leader and had to keep heavyweights like Jon Rahm, Cam Smith, Laurie Canter, Thomas Detry, and Richard Bland at bay. In the end, it was Rahm who came closest, finishing in second place with 17-under 263 – just one stroke behind La Sasso. Sergio Garcia and Bryson DeChambeau also competed, sharing third place at 16-under. La Sasso's first professional win, following his earlier NCAA individual title, is a statement.
