Kisner's Rahm Take, McIlroy Spat: Golf World Heats Up!

Kevin Kisner is fueling speculation: He expects PGA Tour boss Brian Rolapp to deny Jon Rahm a quick return in 2027, even if Rahm were to leave LIV Golf after the current model ends. That would be a bombshell, as the 2023 Masters champion would then have to fight hard to earn his way back onto the Tour – a clear signal from the PGA Tour that defections are not easily forgiven.

The "Returning Member Program," which was launched in early 2026 to allow Brooks Koepka to return, technically exists. Rahm, with his major victory, would likely meet the criteria for it. However, Rolapp has already made it clear that there are no plans to revive this program. Kisner agrees: The PGA Tour had kept a door open for Rahm last offseason, which he didn't use. His view is clear: Rahm should earn his spot back, perhaps via the top 10 of the DP World Tour.

Feud On and Off the Green

However, the Rahm story is only part of the drama Kisner is currently orchestrating. At the same time, he is publicly clashing with Rory McIlroy. Kisner accused McIlroy of participating in the DP World India Championship less because of his mission to globalize golf, and more due to an alleged appearance fee of a whopping $10 million. A direct hit below the belt.

McIlroy's Counter

McIlroy promptly countered, asking how Kisner knew his motivation. He argued that both could be true simultaneously: earning money and growing the sport in India. McIlroy is already keen on his eighth Race to Dubai title and will skip the next event in South Korea to be fully prepared for the season finals in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The conclusion remains: Kisner is convinced Rahm will have to get in line. Special treatment is unlikely. The PGA Tour is showing who's boss here.
