Jon Rahm: DPWT & Ryder Cup – Deal by Amgen Irish Open!

Jon Rahm, the man with the powerful swing and even greater negotiating skills, has once again shaken up the golf world this week. Despite a massive fine of over $3 million and the withdrawal of his appeal, the Spaniard remains adamant that he will resolve his dispute with the DP World Tour. The big goal? The Ryder Cup 2027.

One thing is clear: Rahm landed himself in serious trouble with his LIV Golf League appearances. Without a green light from the DP World Tour, nothing will happen. The Tour had made him an offer: pay hefty fines, play six DP World Tour events per year (two of which are mandatory), and withdraw all lawsuits. Rahm himself had once indicated that four tournaments a year would suit him.

Negotiation Poker on the Green

On April 7th, directly after Masters week at sacred Augusta National, the "Big Basque" explained his strategy: "I didn't think going the legal route and to court would be good for anyone." A clear statement, wouldn't you say? He emphasized that discussions with the DP World Tour are ongoing and that he himself has already "conceded a fair bit." DP World Tour appearances are not expected before the end of the LIV Golf season in late summer, but Rahm is confident that this matter will be settled before the Amgen Irish Open in September.

Ryder Cup Dream in Danger?

The most pressing question: Will we see Rahm teeing off at the Ryder Cup in Irish Adare Manor in 2027? His answer was a clear: "Yes!" He is confident that everything will be settled before he swings a club again in September. Other European stars also signal that a compromise is in the air. The golf world holds its breath.

Jon Rahm says he's confident he'll be at next year's Ryder Cup but right now it's difficult to see how. Rahm is effectively suspended from playing DP World Tour events without settling his fines. He was asked about the situation again today at Augusta: https://t.co/0r6Dnp8DuH
