J.J. Spaun has secured the 2026 Valero Texas Open! The golfer snatched victory in a true thriller at TPC San Antonio. With an impressive round of 67 on Sunday, he triumphed by one stroke over Robert MacIntyre, Matt Wallace, and Michael Kim – marking his third PGA Tour title and his second win at this event!
Pure Drama on the Wet Green
It was a Sunday that truly delivered. After the rain-delayed third round concluded on Sunday morning – Spaun carded a 66 in it – he truly took off in the final round under wet conditions. He remained bogey-free, sank four birdies, and topped it all off with an eagle on the drivable par-4 17th! From 1-under at the halfway point to 5-under for the round – what a phenomenal performance! Besides the glory, he also received a hefty $1.76 million and 500 FedExCup points.
Comeback of a Mental Powerhouse
Spaun himself admitted he wasn't in his desired form. This makes his victory even more significant at a venue that brought him luck back in 2022. After the immense pressure of the 2025 U.S. Open, he needed a mindset shift: less pressure on himself, more freedom in his play. And that's exactly what he impressively demonstrated on the green.
