India Rumbles! Freddy Schott Storms to the Top!

What a start to the Hero Indian Open! Freddy Schott, our 24-year-old German golf ace, absolutely rocked the first round and secured the sole lead on one of the toughest courses on Tour. With a sensational round of 66 strokes (-6) at the demanding DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram, the Düsseldorf native showed the assembled competition who's boss. That's a statement you can hear all the way home!

Schott's Turbo Start: A Flawless Front Nine

Anyone who thought the DLF Golf & Country Club was just a rumour in terms of difficulty was proven wrong today – except by Freddy Schott himself! On the first nine holes, Freddy played flawlessly. Absolutely perfect, a front nine you could frame! With birdies on holes 1, 4, 5, and 8, he effortlessly conjured up four strokes under par onto the scoreboard, without a single stumble. This is the kind of performance that makes even seasoned pros break a sweat. Four birdies on the front nine? His engine is running perfectly!

Back Nine Spectacle with Minor Stumbles

But golf wouldn't be golf if there wasn't still some drama waiting on the back nine. And Freddy delivered everything one could wish for! Immediately after the turn, the birdie rain continued: Holes 11 and 12? A birdie double-pack! And as if that wasn't enough, he added another on hole 15. But the DLF Golf & Country Club wouldn't be the DLF if it didn't strike back occasionally. Schott had to card a bogey on both holes 14 and 17. However, this only shows how brutal this course truly is and that even a sensational round can have minor imperfections. But a Freddy Schott isn't deterred by that: To finish, he scored another birdie on the 18th to conclude the round in style. In the end, a whopping eight birdies were on the card – an absolutely phenomenal result!

The DLF Golf & Country Club: A True Beast

Why is this round of 66 (-6) so incredibly strong? Because the DLF Golf & Country Club knows no mercy. The par-72 course is renowned for its undulating greens and strategically placed hazards that put even the most resilient under pressure. A quick look at the leaderboard makes this clear: Eugenio Chacarra is right behind with -5, Dan Bradbury with -4. The rest of the field? They are mostly fighting to stay over par, as seen with players like Francesco Molinari (0) or the likes of Casey Jarvis (+1) and Angel Ayora (+2). Freddy Schott didn't just lead here; he truly mastered the course and demonstrated how to keep calm even under extreme conditions.

What's Next, Freddy?

With this top performance, Freddy Schott has not only made a name for himself but also created a perfect starting position for the upcoming rounds. Expectations are high, but the Düsseldorf native has already proven that he can handle the pressure. If he remains this focused, then
