The golf world turns its attention to Arizona this week, where the 2026 Senior PGA Professional Championship at the legendary Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club calls for an epic battle of over-50 pros. Starting Thursday, October 22, 264 PGA of America Golf Professionals, all over 50, are ready to rock the desert green. For four days, the Lost Gold and Prospector Courses will be the venue for thrilling duels.
The first two rounds will be played on both courses before the cut separates the wheat from the chaff: only the top 90 scores – plus ties – will advance to the third round on Saturday. After that, the stakes get higher, as after 54 holes, only the top 70 will be allowed to play the final rounds on the Lost Gold Course.
The Title and the Trophy
The field is eager for the title, especially defending champion Justin Hicks from Wellington, Florida. He claimed victory in 2025 by a single stroke and already proved his strength in the 2026 Senior PGA Championship, where he finished 17th as the best PGA of America Professional. A total prize fund of $425,000 USD is at stake, with the winner taking home a substantial $37,800 USD.
Tickets to the Majors
It's not just about the money here, but about the future: The top 35 golfers will secure a spot on the Corebridge Financial Team for the 2027 Senior PGA Championship, taking place April 15-18 in Bradenton, Florida. And for the top eight plus ties, direct qualification for the 2027 Senior PGA Professional Championship is even up for grabs.
Incidentally, this is only the second time Arizona has hosted the event; the last time was in 2017 when Frank Esposito Jr. triumphed. Superstition Mountain is ready to continue writing the golf history of senior pros – it's going to be serious business.
