What an absolute spectacle LIV Golf Andalucia 2026 has delivered! Real Club Valderrama immediately showed the assembled LIV Golf elite what's what. Gusty, swirling winds transformed the already challenging par 71 into a true monster, resulting in the toughest first round of the entire 2026 LIV Golf season for the field, averaging 72.51. Even in the league's history, it was only the sixth-toughest opening round.
At the top, Tyrrell Hatton (Legion XIII) and Scott Vincent (HyFlyers GC) share the lead after a truly impressive 4-under 67. Thomas Detry follows one shot back in third place. For Hatton, however, the round is special for another reason: After the birth of his first child, which caused him to miss last week in Korea, the proud new father delivers a true dream start. He carded an impressive 33 on the front nine, sinking birdies on the 1, 3, 6, 12, and 17 – with only a single bogey creeping in.
Rahm Under Pressure
Even local hero Jon Rahm felt that Valderrama plays no favorites. The Spaniard, Hatton's teammate, made birdies on the 2 and 5, but immediately gave them back with bogeys on the 6 and 11. A 2-over opening round in front of his home crowd – he'll need to deliver more.
Wind Shifts the Conditions
The forecast for Friday predicts a wind shift, which will essentially present the field with a completely different golf course. Rahm definitely needs a turnaround to still contend for the win. But if anyone can pull off such a comeback, it's him. That promises pure drama on the course!
