Fleetwood: FedExCup Defense Without Burden of Drought

Tommy Fleetwood returns to East Lake, but this time everything is different: The burden of a years-long drought is gone, his first PGA TOUR victory is in the bag, and the FedExCup already rests in his hands. The Englishman, who sensationally claimed his first title at East Lake in 2025, starts as the defending champion of the TOUR Championship and the entire FedExCup – a role that should now suit him perfectly, free from the mental baggage of the past.

The Spell is Broken

This victory in 2025 wasn't just a normal trophy, golfers, but a redemption after 164 starts on the PGA TOUR. Fleetwood dominated with an incredible 18-under, leaving Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay three strokes behind. Now that this milestone has been achieved, he's hunting for the next title with the confidence of a champion. This is the kind of story only golf can write.

From August 27th to 30th, 2026, the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta once again calls for the showdown of the season's top 30 golfers. And the prize money is ringing loud: The tournament boasts a massive total purse of $40 million, with a staggering $10 million going to this year's FedExCup champion. Fleetwood has the rare chance to become the first player ever to win the FedExCup in two consecutive seasons.

Back to Zero: The New Rule

The big news this year: There are no starting strokes! This means all 30 players begin at even par and compete in a direct 72-hole race for victory. This makes the competition even more exciting and fair. Although Scottie Scheffler is widely considered the top favorite in the betting markets, Fleetwood should never be counted out. The man has proven he can deliver under pressure – and all without the old burden on his shoulders.
