The incident occurred on Thursday on the 18th hole of The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, which was actually Tosti's ninth hole of the day. Witnesses reported a heated discussion before Ellis walked off without a word. Tosti, who was on the tee, had to rely on the spontaneous help of a spectator for the remainder of the round.
