The DP World Tour arrives in the Alps this week with the 2026 Austrian Alpine Open — and on a brand-new stage! Golfclub Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith in Tyrol is not only the 464th venue in the Tour's history but also a real statement. After the tournament was hosted in Salzburg in 2025, the course near Kitzbühel has been thoroughly overhauled and prepared for the elite tour.
This week, everything in Austria revolves around the little white ball. Monday and Tuesday saw the start of the practice rounds; yesterday featured the highly anticipated Pro-Am. Starting today, the real action begins as the official rounds will be played through Saturday, before the grand finale takes place on Sunday. The DP World Tour is, as is well known, the final stepping stone to the major league of the PGA Tour.
Alpine Upgrade for the Tour
What a backdrop! The organizers have done an outstanding job transforming Golfclub Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith into a worthy Tour venue. The course, surrounded by Tyrol's breathtaking mountain scenery, promises to be not only a visual highlight but also a demanding test for the pros. The facilities have been freshly brought up to scratch, shuttles are running, and the entire infrastructure, from the Trade Village to the VIP area, is already in full swing.
Local Hero on the Tee

For him, it's "very special," as he says himself, that the DP World Tour is visiting his home region for the first time. Many friends and family will be cheering him on as he tries to deliver one brilliant round after another on familiar ground.
