DP World makes a significant statement in the global golf world: The logistics giant will remain the title sponsor of the DP World India Championship until 2035. This monumental commitment, announced immediately after the second edition of the tournament at the Delhi Golf Club, makes it clear: India is being positioned as an elite golf destination for the long term. A strategic move designed to firmly establish the country on the international golf map.
India's Golf Future Secured
The tournament, a co-sanctioned event of the DP World Tour and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), will thus remain a permanent fixture in the Race to Dubai calendar for the next nine years. With a prize fund of US$4 million, it is not only the largest for a DP World Tour event in India but is also considered the richest golf tournament ever held in Asia. All these elements combine to strongly boost the sport on the subcontinent.
Chacarra Triumphs, Vision Remains
While DP World forges its long-term vision, there was pure action on the course: Spain's Eugenio Chacarra claimed victory with an impressive 21-under-par performance. New Zealander Daniel Hillier fought his way to 19-under but had to settle for second place, two shots behind. For Chacarra, this was already his third win of the 2026 season, propelling him to the top of the Race to Dubai rankings – a phenomenal round that underscores his form.
This long-term partnership is more than just a sponsorship deal; it's a bet on the future. DP World aims not only to establish the event but also, through its PGTI relationship, to increase prize money at the national level, promote tournaments in smaller cities, and facilitate participation for Indian professionals in international Challenger Tours. India is set to become a golf hotspot – and will remain so until at least 2035.
