Folks, buckle up! Harbour Town Golf Links, the legendary stage for the RBC Heritage on the PGA Tour, has spruced itself up – and how! Following a six-month renovation in 2025, led by five-time champion Davis Love III, the course is ready for this year's event. The goal was clear: The characteristic doglegs, the famously challenging small greens, and the strategically placed trees were to be preserved, but with a few fresh accents that would make any golfer's heart pound.
Davis Love III and his design team faced no easy task. The Pete Dye-designed course on Hilton Head Island is known for rewarding patience and precision – including tight fairways and tricky hazards. The overhaul focused on removing artificial elements like cart paths and bridges, restoring the original green shapes, expanding hazards, and adding sod-wall bunkers that complement the natural Lowcountry aesthetic. Players even pleaded with Love: "Don't mess it up." And he delivered!
Digging into the Details
Things got particularly dramatic at Hole No. 14, a 192-yard (175.5 meters) Par 3, which has always been one of the toughest. Out-of-bounds lurks to the left, a real shot-eater. For 2026, the Heritage tee box was doubled in size, and at the green, two new sod-wall pot bunkers join the existing sand traps. Precision is key there, or it'll cost you dearly! Hole 2 also received a facelift: A fairway bunker was moved 7 yards (6.4 meters) further into the fairway, given a steeper edge, and the green was enlarged by 200 sq ft (approx. 18.6 sq m). The left greenside bunker was reduced by 35 percent, making the approach even trickier.
What to Expect on the Green?
The pros are in for a real treat. Harbour Town is showing its best side – time-tested, but with that certain something extra it takes to challenge the world's best. Whoever claims victory here will have had a truly strong week. We're excited to see which superstars will be teeing off and manage to keep their composure on this newly polished golf gem, conjuring up one spectacular round after another. The 2026 RBC Heritage promises high drama and first-class golf!
