The Cornerstone Club in Montrose, Colorado, is thinking big: A massive expansion and golf course renovation under the aegis of Reef Capital Partners is set to transform the exclusive hideaway into a superlative year-round destination by summer 2027. This isn't just a small facelift; it's a true game-changer designed to preserve the club's existing character while elevating the resort experience to a new level.
The centerpiece of the project, naturally, is the golf course itself, a Matt Dusenberry design sprawling across a gigantic 4,800-acre (approximately 1,942-hectare) area. A comprehensive upgrade is underway here: from new turf and refined fairways to revitalized bunkers and state-of-the-art cart paths. The changes to holes 12 and 18 are particularly exciting. Hole 12 will be redesigned as a short par 4, perfect for an aggressive birdie-hunting finish or a quick drama. Hole 18, previously a par 4, will be transformed into a true showdown as a par 5.
More Than Just Golf
But the Cornerstone Club is thinking far beyond the final putt. A new bar and grill are being built directly on the 18th green, overlooking an expanded putting course – the perfect spot for post-round analysis. The clubhouse area will be expanded to include a resort pool, whirlpool, an event lawn, and new changing rooms. But it gets even wilder: plans include a performance center for refining one's swing, a spa and thermal bath for well-deserved relaxation, and eight luxurious overnight cabins. Here, members and guests are meant to enjoy not just swinging their clubs, but a complete lifestyle experience.
Year-Round Action and Exclusive Retreat
Reef Capital Partners makes it clear: the goal is to give members what they love while turning the club into a year-round hotspot. In addition to golf, activities will include hiking, horseback riding, pickleball, tennis, indoor golf simulators, and seasonal events. Starting in winter 2026, real estate members of the Cornerstone Club can even enjoy exclusive access to the Crest Club Telluride – a private alpine retreat within the Madeline Hotel & Residences. Memberships are already available, by the way, but public real estate sales are not slated to begin until 2027. This project is definitely a statement for anyone who wants to experience golf and luxury in harmony.
