Wyndham Clark showed some nerves in the final round, but still managed to secure victory at the 20th BMW Championship – a true nail-biting finale at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis/Missouri, where he triumphed with an incredible 263 strokes and took home 20 million dollars. The 32-year-old American finished with a three-shot lead over fellow countryman Patrick Cantlay. Rory McIlroy lurked right behind him in third place, just one stroke further back.
For a long time, it looked like a walk in the park: Before the fourth round, Clark had a five-shot lead. But he had to sweat it out, only saving his sixth PGA Tour victory at the very last minute with three crucial birdies on the final holes.
From August 27th to 30th, 2026, the action heats up: The grand finale of the PGA Tour is approaching. At the Tour Championship in Atlanta/Georgia, only the absolute top 30 will be competing. Unfortunately, our Matti Schmid had to bow out in the first playoff tournament, making him the only German to be eliminated.
"It was strange," confessed two-time major champion Clark after the round. "Nothing was coming together on the greens for a long time; I wasn't entirely focused and just made some silly bogeys. Nervous? Not really." And then he added: "As much as I would have loved to walk away with a big lead, it was fun to feel the adrenaline rushes and those true butterflies in my stomach."
