Block on Course for Title: Leads Ally Challenge by 2 Strokes

Michael Block leads the 2026 Ally Challenge by two strokes, impressively demonstrating to the Champions Tour the value of a sponsor exemption. The club professional, in only his fifth start of the season on the Champions Tour, is currently writing one of the most remarkable stories of the golf year.

On Saturday, Block fired an absolute cracker of a round, a 7-under 65, after already shooting a 66 in the opening round. With a total of 13-under par after 36 holes, he set a new tournament record and was completely bogey-free. An early eagle on the par-5 first hole set the tone, followed by birdies on holes 5, 7, 9, 13, and 16. In total, he has collected two eagles and ten birdies so far – a truly strong performance.

The Block Party Continues

At 50 years old and with a healthy dose of underdog charm, Block remains one of the greatest feel-good stories in professional golf. His ability to compete as a club professional against established Champions Tour legends is more than just a footnote. A victory here would be simply sensational for him, as he doesn't have regular status in the field but received a rare sponsor exemption.

Alker Lurks, But Block Stays Course

Behind him, Steven Alker lurks in second place at 11-under par, having just secured a playoff victory last week. The pressure is on, but Block has skillfully carried his 36-hole lead into the final round. Sunday will show whether this dream becomes a reality on the fairways of Warwick Hills and if Block claims his first senior title. This will be a final round not to be missed!
