Folks, the Aramco Championship in Las Vegas truly kicked off with a bang on day one! On the Shadow Creek Golf Course, the ladies are engaged in a thrilling exchange of blows that's already got us on the edge of our seats. Three players immediately positioned themselves at the top of the leaderboard, setting up an exciting scenario.
With stellar rounds of 5-under-par 67s each, Lauren Coughlin, Nasa Hataoka, and Miyu Yamashita sit atop the leaderboard after the first day. But beware, golfers: The field is tightly packed! Just one shot behind lurk absolute superstars Hyo Joo Kim and Nelly Korda, who share fourth place with Jing Yan after strong 4-under-par 68s. Things really heated up on the green!
The Clash of the Titans – The Next Round!
Hyo Joo Kim arrives in Las Vegas with significant momentum. Just recently, she defended her title at the Ford Championship, securing the victory with an incredible total score of 28-under 260 – and that, after defeating Korda by two strokes. Her first round there was an unbelievable 11-under 61! She's on a roll. And as fate would have it, we're witnessing the next chapter in the epic Kim vs. Korda rivalry here. Speaking of Korda: She capped off her round with a magnificent eagle on the 18th, securing her 4-under round. One can only applaud that!
What's Still to Come
The course, a par-72 layout spanning 6,765 yards (6,186 meters), is ready for more drama. The $4 million prize purse is sure to further fuel the motivation of the top players. While the first round concluded on Thursday, April 2nd, and the leaderboard was last updated on April 3rd, at 1:27 AM UTC (3:27 AM CEST), one thing is clear: This is going to get really exciting. With current pleasant temperatures of 18.9°C and light winds, conditions are perfect for top-tier golf. We look forward to more!
