Alex Noren Chases Hat-Trick at BMW PGA Championship

Looking forward, not back: Alex Noren is ready to make history at Wentworth. As the defending champion at the 2026 BMW PGA Championship, he has the chance to join the elite circle of three-time winners alongside golf legends like Colin Montgomerie and Bernhard Langer. Following his triumphs in 2017 and 2025, a hat-trick would make a significant statement, but his focus is on the here and now, not the glory of past trophies.

Noren arrives in Surrey in top form and well-rested. After a short break, which he used after narrowly missing Tour Championship qualification on the PGA Tour, he's back and raring to go. His recent form speaks volumes: a 7th place and a 3rd place in his last three starts show that his game is in great shape. While he's not considered a top favorite with odds around 33-1, his track record on the West Course is simply phenomenal.

The Competition Never Sleeps

But Wentworth is no walk in the park. The field is packed with top-tier players also vying for the prestigious title. Names like Rory McIlroy, the young Ludvig Åberg, Robert MacIntyre, Tyrrell Hatton, Shane Lowry, Brooks Koepka, and Patrick Reed are all teeing off, eager to make Noren's life difficult. As the flagship event of the DP World Tour and part of the Rolex Series, it's not just about prize money, but also valuable points for the Race to Dubai and, of course, Ryder Cup qualification. Anyone who wants to win here needs to post low scores, as winning totals have often been around -20.

Thrills in Surrey

Noren himself, who will tee off from September 17th to 20th, 2026, will start in a feature group with Robert MacIntyre and Ludvig Åberg – a trio poised to deliver drama on the greens. It's clear: despite strong competition, the Swede remains a hot contender. His composure, experience, and current top form make him a player to watch closely at this year's BMW PGA Championship. Will he complete the hat-trick and usher in a new era at Wentworth? The anticipation is palpable.
