Alex Noren: Bethpage Ryder Cup – What Drives Him

Alex Noren, the man with the Ryder Cup in his blood, was once again part of Team Europe at Bethpage Black in 2025. For the Swede, this team event is far more than just a tournament; it's the ultimate stage where he proves his skill and celebrates his passion for the sport.

Noren made his debut at the Ryder Cup in Le Golf National in 2018. There, he secured a strong 2 points in his matches and contributed to Europe's unforgettable 31.5-10.5 emphatic victory against the USA – including a halved fourball with Thorbjørn Olesen. Even though Europe left Bethpage Black as the losing side in 2025 and Tiger Woods declined a captaincy role, Noren was still present – despite a world ranking position around 50 at the time of selection.

The Eternal Flame of the Ryder Cup

At 44 years old, with an impressive six wins on the DP World Tour and a PGA Tour triumph at the Corales Puntacana 2024, Noren has long been a seasoned player. What truly continues to fuel him? Clearly: the pure joy of the game and that very special Ryder Cup magic. He consistently manages to achieve top-20 finishes because the motivation from this prestigious event is simply tireless.

Noren's Consistency as an Anchor

At Bethpage Black, things were intense, with much discussion surrounding the US players and McIlroy's nearby triumphs. Yet Noren once again shone with his consistent ball-striking and was among the top-10 in 'Strokes Gained: Approach'. His experience and consistent performance made him a kind of vice-captain on the course. Injuries? None to be found! Noren remains active on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, with Majors and the next Ryder Cup in Ireland in 2027 firmly in his sights. His Bethpage experience still motivates him, while Europe burns for redemption for 2025.
