The 2026 Nedbank Golf Challenge is completely revamping the Gary Player Country Club, with the most significant changes ever made to the legendary course. A brand new par-4 as the opening hole and a state-of-the-art driving range where the first hole used to be – this isn't a revolution, it's an evolution for "Africa's Major". The colossal investment of around 50 million Rand demonstrates the organizers' commitment to elevating this tournament to a new level and making it even more irresistible to the golfing elite.
The Course Gets a Makeover
The centerpiece of this revitalization is the new first hole: a challenging 470-meter par-4, now situated higher on the mountainside, directly presenting players with a new challenge. For the first time in the course's history, there will also be a dedicated driving range, as well as a new putting and chipping green. Golfers, this means: top conditions to calibrate your clubs before the round. Gary Player himself was "hands-on" during the renovation – when the legend gets involved, it's bound to be truly exceptional.
Stars Line Up for "Africa's Major"
The first names announced for the spectacle, taking place from December 3rd to 6th, 2026, already promise a stellar field: Justin Rose and the powerhouse Bryson DeChambeau are confirmed, flanked by talents such as Kristoffer Reitan, Casey Jarvis, and Marco Penge. DeChambeau's presence, in particular, will add a significant dose of international prestige to the event. The DP World Tour naturally remains a co-organizer, and the Sunshine Tour also confirmed its co-sanctioning. The 2026 Nedbank Golf Challenge is therefore in full swing and promises to be a true highlight of the season.
