Two years of waiting, doubting, and pure grind are history: Yin Ruoning claimed victory at the FM Championship, ending a drought that felt like an eternity. On Sunday, the 23-year-old Chinese triumphed on the greens of TPC Boston with a two-shot lead, securing her sixth LPGA Tour title.
What a stellar round! Yin had a true rollercoaster ride but finished the day with a strong two-under-par 70 and an overall score of 14 under. Five birdies against three bogeys – things really heated up, but the 2023 Women's PGA Championship winner showed nerves of steel when it mattered most. Especially the decisive birdie on the par-5 18th was pure golf drama and sealed her first triumph on Tour since 2024.
"I was so emotional on the 18th green," Yin said after the match. "It feels like all the hard work has paid off. I'm just happy with how I fought out there today." She admitted feeling her playing partners, Kim Hyo-joo and Kim Sei-young, breathing down her neck. "That was the longest 18th hole I've ever played – they are just so good and make no mistakes."
Before this victory, Yin herself had begun to doubt. After several close misses in 2025 and 2026, she was hard on herself. "I wasn't a happy person last year," she confessed. "I doubted if I could ever win on this Tour again." But the wait was worth it, and patience ultimately paid off. A truly strong statement on the greens that "good things take time."
While Yin popped the champagne, Kim Hyo-joo finished her round with a 71 (one under par) and ended up at 12 under. Kim Sei-young shot a 73 (one over par) and shared fourth place with Rose Zhang and Allisen Corpuz, all at 11 under.
