Bernd Wiesberger is fighting his way back to the big stage with everything he's got and is on the verge of securing a PGA Tour card for 2027. The Austrian veteran is currently in ninth place among the ten DP World Tour players who can pave their way to golf's elite through the Race to Dubai. With 1,664.06 Race to Dubai points, he is 13th overall, but since several players ahead of him already have PGA Tour status, Wiesberger moves up in the crucial ranking – a significant advantage for the only German-speaking golfer in this zone.
Wiesberger's Stellar Form on the Green
Wiesberger holding this provisional qualifying spot is no coincidence. Most recently, he played a truly strong round at the European Masters, finishing the tournament with a six-under 64, which earned him a share of fourth place. This performance was a clear statement and significantly solidified his position in the Race to Dubai. At 41, he would also be the oldest player to secure one of these coveted cards for 2027 via this route – impressive!
The path to PGA Tour membership leads through the DP World Tour Championship, which takes place from November 12th to 15th. Afterwards, the ten highest-ranked players who are not otherwise exempt will receive their ticket for 2027. Names like Patrick Reed, Eugenio Chacarra, and Andy Sullivan are also among the top 10 on this ranking.
Showdown in Dubai Approaches
However, Wiesberger's position is far from set in stone. There are still four tournaments remaining, including two postseason events with increased point allocation. The ranking can shift dramatically until the final tee-off in Dubai. It's going to be intense; every birdie and every bogey could be decisive. The battle for a coveted spot in the top 10 will be truly exciting – pure thrill for us golfers.
