What a performance: Liam Nolan has kept the golf world on the edge of its seat, securing the coveted DP World Tour Card for 2027 on Sunday evening! At the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final in Mallorca, the Irishman delivered an incredible round, crowning a truly exceptional season. He closed with a strong 67 (five-under-par), bringing him to a total of 11-under par and securing a tied 14th place in the event.
This success is no coincidence. Nolan, just 26 and only in his second professional season, finished ninth in the "Road to Mallorca" rankings – easily snatching one of the coveted qualification spots. For a long time, things didn't look so bright, as he was temporarily in 43rd place in the seasonal standings. But then came the breakthrough: In October, he claimed victory at the Abu Dhabi Challenge and followed up with a tied 31st place at the Irish Open. Five top-10 finishes in 2026 show that he has had a very strong season.
Nail-biting Finish to the Final Round
One can only imagine the pressure Nolan felt on the tee. He started the final round in twelfth place in the ranking, after a round of 71 the previous day had dropped him to a tied 25th place in Mallorca. But he kept his nerves firmly in check: Seven birdies and only two bogeys propelled him forward. With his closing round of 67, he dispelled any doubts about his promotion. This moment must have felt "surreal," as he himself said, a true "full circle" for his hard work.
Looking Ahead: The DP World Tour Awaits!
A detail that makes this triumph even more remarkable: This season, only 15 players instead of the usual 30 were promoted from the HotelPlanner Tour. Nolan thus prevailed in an extremely competitive field! He joins the ranks of Irish golf stars like Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Pádraig Harrington, and Tom McKibbin, whom we will also see on the DP World Tour in 2027. The new season already begins before Christmas with tournaments in Australia, South Africa, and Mauritius. We are excited to see what this man will deliver on the big stage!
