A bombshell for the golf world: Marco Penge, one of the Top-50 players on the PGA Tour, is taking time off. The Brit temporarily put his career on hold on Tuesday to focus entirely on his health – and unfortunately, this is no trivial matter, but a serious statement.
What makes the situation so dramatic: Penge has been struggling for some time with the after-effects of a viral infection from November 2025. Since then, he has been plagued by recurring ear and neck problems, accompanied by neurological symptoms, bouts of dizziness, and nervous system disorders. A tough ordeal that already forced him to withdraw from events like the Sony Open and in Myrtle Beach this year.
Shock for the Tour Elite
It’s a real shock that a player of this caliber, who started off very strong and has the potential to shake up the leaderboards, has to take such a forced break. While the decision is declared as a temporary pause, a concrete timetable for his return does not yet exist. The primary focus now is on getting back on his feet.
But Penge is a fighter. Despite the uncertain situation, he already has a concrete plan in mind: He is aiming for a return for important events such as the U.S. Open. We're keeping our fingers crossed that his recovery progresses quickly and that he will soon be back on the green with full power to showcase his talent.
