Lottie Woad claimed her second LPGA Tour title at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G in Ohio, following a final round brimming with drama. The young Englishwoman once again proved that she has what it takes to be an absolute top player and remains unflappable even under immense pressure.
Woad headed into Sunday's final round with a three-shot lead and defended it with nerves of steel. Her final score of 11-under 199 after 54 holes was incredibly strong, securing her a well-deserved victory at the challenging Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati. Incidentally, she had already snagged her first LPGA trophy "last July" at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open – the momentum train is rolling.
Nerve-Wracking Thriller on the Course
While Woad cemented her lead, the rest of the field battled fiercely for every position behind her. Haeran Ryu ultimately claimed second place. Amanda Doherty was also still in contention after three rounds and among the leaders but couldn't quite maintain the pressure. Superstar Nelly Korda, on the other hand, was never truly a threat for the top spot; her 2-over 74 on Saturday catapulted her out of contention early – nine shots back was a tall order.
The Future Belongs to Her
Woad is still at the beginning of her professional career, but this performance confirms her status as a rising star. She consistently proves that she can convert 54-hole leads into triumphs even under the highest pressure. This is further indication that we will see many more sensational rounds from her in the coming years.
