Folks, buckle up! While the major tours are still at loggerheads, a new format is shaking up the golf world. Grant Horvat, known from the creator scene and a former PGA Tour player, has teamed up with the Bryan Bros to launch "Your Golf Tour" (YGT). That's quite a statement, especially with Wesley Bryan, the suspended PGA Tour pro, on board.
Imagine this: 16 absolute top golfers from the creator world will battle it out in four thrilling events. The grand finale? A stroke-play showdown for a whopping $1 million at Wynn Las Vegas. Horvat himself made it clear: it's about combining talent and personality and offering a stage to players who might have already given up on their pro dreams. Truly impressive!
Rahm's Ryder Cup Roulette
Speaking of drama – Jon Rahm continues to make history. After his $450 million move to LIV Golf in December 2023, he remained a DP World Tour member but incurred over $3 million in fines for his LIV starts from February 2024 onwards. His appeal in September 2024 to retain membership was only a temporary solution. Although he was part of Europe's Ryder Cup victory in 2025 at Bethpage Black – a phenomenal performance! – he has dropped his appeal. Without paying the fines or fulfilling the required six-event quota for the DPWT (instead of four for non-LIV players), his Ryder Cup participation in 2027 looks bleak. That's a tough pill to swallow.
Exodus at LIV Golf?
And as if that weren't enough, there's movement on the LIV front itself. Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed have jumped ship before the 2026 season and returned to the PGA Tour. This is a real statement and shows that the appeal of the Saudi league might not be as strong as once thought. Professional golf remains a hotbed of activity, golfers. Fines, memberships, major qualification – there are challenges everywhere.
